1. My SiteLink is running slow and is taking a while to process simple tasks
This could be a multitude of things – we find the most common fix is an update. To perform this, go to Tools -> Launch live update. Computers are a little bit like humans: you can’t expect them to be running weeks on end without a shutdown. It’s like running a storage facility for weeks with no sleep – it’s not going to happen. The best solution is to reboot your computer once every couple of days – this will refresh every aspect of the computer, not just SiteLink.
2. My SiteLink is not sending emails.
Once again – this could be quite a few issues, a slow internet connection is perhaps the most common issue. With cloud based programs like SiteLink it is good practice to have a solid internet connection. SiteLink uses the internet for everything from sending an email to taking a payment to changing customer’s details and much more. Whilst data is locally stored, SiteLink verifies transactions with it servers. A slow internet connection when trying to send bulk emails with your company logo as a header it is going to take a while – and may in turn time out and not send at all. SiteLink recommends a 5MB/second connection – Minimum is Failure 600KB/second. To check this you can go to www.speedtest.net.
3. My gate is not updating with the changes I make in SiteLink
SiteLink does not directly control the gate. It creates files and sends them to gate systems for processing, it does communicate directly to the software that controls the gate. By far the most common problem is that a gate PIN won’t download. Check the settings in the Gate setup ‘Update the gate for remote transactions’. This needs to be enabled on the computer that also has the gate software on it or direct connection to the gate controller. This feature basically updates the gate for any changes made remotely (payments via your website, additional computers in the office or your personal computer at home).
